Self-Portraitwith an Animal
Use any drawing supplies you have.
For this activity you will draw a portrait of yourself with your favorite animal/s. This could be a pet or an animal in the wild. Also, you can show the environment in the background to fill your paper with illustration.
Texture Rubbing
Use crayons with the paper peeled off.
For this activity you will find interesting textures around the house or yard. Lay a piece of paper over the texture and then use the side of the bare crayon to rub color over the paper-covered texture, creating a copy of it.
The word texture means: what things are made of and how they feel. Textures can be described as “rough”, “smooth”, “hard”, “soft”, “liquid”, “solid”, “lumpy”, “gritty” etc.
Paper Towel ArtSurprise!
Paper Towel, Felt Tip Markers like Sharpies, Plate of Water
For this fun art trick, fold a paper towel in half and draw something on the front side using a permanent marker. Now open the paper towel and get creative on the back part! Fold it together when you are done and drop it in the water to see the big reveal where the two sides come together when water is absorbed!
Interactive Chalk Art
Use sidewalk chalk, props and a camera.
For this activity you will use sidewalk chalk to create a scene that you can interact with. Then take a picture to document your creation. Click HERE for more information.
Painted "Handimals"
Hand/s, Tempera Paint, OR Makeup (Halloween Makeup, Eyeliner, Lipstick, etc. OR Washable Markers) Brushes, Water, Paper Towels
Your challenge is to find a hand (your own? a family member’s?) and paint on it to look like an animal! If you don’t have paint you can use different kinds of makeup or washable markers! When your work is complete, take a quality photograph in good lighting or even use your animal to create a video "Handimal" puppet performance to fun music.
Inspired by the artist, Guido Daniele
Guido Daniele is an Italian artist who paints on hands and bodies and documents his work in photographs. Daniele’s art has been used in advertisements, particularly for zoos. Tap here for a gallery of his art! Tap here for a video about Guido Daniele
TIP!
Use small amounts of paint and let it dry a little between colors if you don't want them to mix.
Play with Your Food
Fruits, Veggies, Dry Beans, Frozen Peas, Safe Things for Cutting and Carving with the help of an adult, please!

GardenMandala
Found objects in nature: leaves-sticks-stones-flowers
Just breathe! Did you know mandalas can enhance meditation? Collect objects you find from nature to create your very own garden mandala. Choose a quiet place to construct your mandala and place a central piece down like rock. Surround the center with radiating rings, using patterns to layer remaining objects. Meditate, reflect, and enjoy your quiet space!
the word mandala means circle in Sanskrit.
Be a Designer
Paper, pencil or any drawing tools
Fashion designers create the clothes we wear, and Industrial Designers create the items around our home… You can be one too! Look around your home for things that were designed by an Artist (a faucet, a chair, a clock, hats, shoes, table, door knob, etc). Then pick one and redesign it. You can make it look weird, modern, like an animal, etc.
Art & Music
Listen to and watch this video for “Vincent, Starry Starry Night” by Don McLean, Inspired by the famous Van Gogh Painting.
Paper, any drawing tools, music of your choice
Many famous Artists (such as Matisse & Kandinsky) have gotten their creative inspiration from Music. Likewise, Musicians have also been inspired by Art. Select your favorite song (make sure that it is school-appropriate), and listen to it closely several times. As you listen, draw what you feel, or what you see in your imagination. Optional: Illustrate just the title of the song, or your favorite lyric (words).

Then, dip Legos into black paint (or any color that you’d like) and “stamp” them onto paper to create your castle. When it dries, add details...who lives there? What color is it? What is the background?
