Watch "How to design an airplane."

STEP #2: EXPERIMENT

Flight Works Alabama

Without using any external resources:- NO internet- NO adult assistance- NO social mediaCreate a paper airplane with one sheet of regular white paper.

Launch your aircraft with all of your strength!

STEP #3: MEASURE

Flight Works Alabama

After you launch your aircraft into the air, record your results.A few items to note when you record your distances:

  1. Throw your aircraft multiple times from the same starting position.
  2. Record each of your flight distances.
  3. Don't be discouraged if you fail.Failure helps you move forward.

  • Brainstorm!
  • Think about your research:
    • What was successful about the paper airplanes you built?
    • What failures did you experience?
  • Try different things:
    • Change the type of paper.
    • Add weight in the nose (paperclip, penny, etc.).
    • Create more acute angles in the design.

GO CREATE!

STEP #7: COMPARE

Flight Works Alabama

Make multiple designs! Record the data!

STEP #8: CHALLENGE

Flight Works Alabama

Once you have perfected your design, challenge someone!

I used to make paper airplanes all of the time! I bet I could show a few techniques...

Sounds like fun!

Anything you can do, I can do better!
