Bob's trainers (part 1)
14 April
SAY: I would rather . . .
go to work?
go to school?
Would you rather
If you could choose, what would be your choice?
Do you know that in some developing countries children don't go to school, they go to work.
horrible workingconditions
- easy or difficult?- safe or unsafe?- well-paid job or underpaid?
What do you think of these working conditions?
Child labour
These children are exploited.
Let's stop and think about these:
- How much money do they make a day?
- Can they themselves spend the money they get?
- Do they have good working conditions?
- Do they go to work because they want to or becasue they have to?
- Would you like to be in their place? Why yes, why no?
They are carrying banners.
What can people do about it? They can protest.
Would you be ready to hand out leaflets against child labour? Are you into this kind of activities?
I do not want you to protest but are you ready to give up buying a pair of trainers which you really fancy knowing that they were made by a child - who has been exploited? - who has been working in horrible working conditions? - who has been engaged in child labour in a developing country?
Answer these questions.
Do the crossword Child labour to practise the words.
Copy these words into your notebook.
