My favourite ARTISTS

By Tomás Vidal Vera

Now he is working on a new album and he has recently released "Summer Series" and "Winter Series", two ensembles of songs, each ensemble with three cuts.

I think he is one of my favourite artists because he doesn't have a particular style. He experiments with many styles and, although we could define his music as rap or hip-hop, we can also find influences of rock, jazz and even flamenco in his music.

Juancho Marqués

He was born in Seville in 1987 and he started his musical career in 2006. At first, he was a member of Suite Soprano, together with Sule B and DJ Kaplan. They released two albums: "Nada más Lejos" (2012) and "Domenica" (2014).

This album in particular is one of my favourites of all time

"Álbum Uno" (2019)

FAVOURITE SONGS

His music is usually very beautiful and calm, but it also has lots of virtuosistic and fiery moments. In fact, his music is really difficult, but it doesn´t really seem to.

In his main influences we can find baroque and renaissance (because his music is very organized and he uses strict forms), blues and jazz (because he uses extended and innovative harmonies) and folk music from lots of different countries (his music is quite multicultural).

Maurice Ravel

He was born in 1875 to a swiss father and a vasque mother and he died in 1937. He is a french classical composer and he is often associated with the impressionistic period, although he has a unique style and some of his pieces are very far from the impressionism.

5. Gaspard de la nuit I. Ondine

4. Poéme coreographique. La Valse

3. Pavane pour une infante defunte.

2. Miroirs IV. Alborada del gracioso

1. Miroirs III. Une barque sur l'ocean

FAVOURITE PIECES

In their songs they sometimes reports social problems such as prostitution or even how the industry of music works, and they usually reference the pop culture. They also invent great rythms for the drums section.

I don't really know why I like them so much, but they are one of the few rock bands I really like.

Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys is a british indie and rock band who joined in 2002. They decided to make a band because Alex Turner and Jamie Cook (who are members of the band) were neighbours and they both received a guitar as a christmas present, so, later on, and together with Andy Nicholson and Matt Helders (who were their school mates) they took that decision.

FAVOURITE SONGS

I like his music because instead of using complex harmonies and melodies he is a pioner on using bizarre electric sound effects and recording the craziest sounds. For instance, in the making of Interstellar's soundtrack, he recorded a choir backwards, he recorded orchestra's wind players while they played their instruments but without producing any sound, he used a giant organ, he recorded a storm, he recorded clocks, and lots of other things.

Hans Zimmer

He was born in 1957 and he started his musical career as a keyboard player (he appeared in the first video of MTV and he even played with the spanish band Mecano), but later on he began his career as a soundtrack composer. He has worked in almost every Christopher Nolan's film.

2. TIME - Inception (Christopher nolan)

1. Main Theme - Interstellar (Christopher Nolan)

FAVOURITE SOUNDTRACKS

I think they are very innovative because their two last albums are conceptual, which means they tell a story and each song is a kind of chapter. This story is like a metaphor of how Tyler Joseph (the vocalist) overcomes his anxiety and mental problems. In fact, blurryface (the name of the fourth album) simbolizes when he is sank in his problems and trench (the name of the fifth album) means overcoming them. There are lots of invented places and charachters in the songs (such as Dema, Nico and the Niners or the bandits) and it shows how Tyler writes songs in order to express his feelings.

TWENTY ONE PILOTS

Twenty One Pilots is a duet from the USA. At first it was a band who joined in 2009, but, when Nick Thomas and Chris Salih left the band, it became a musical duet composed by Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun. This duet composes in various styles, such as rock, hip-hop, pop, rap... They became famous with their fourth album "Blurryface", which has some really famous songs, for instance stressed out or ride.
