Want to make creations as awesome as this one?

We try to understand the differences between all of them.

We learn about...

FORMS OF ENERGY

1

CHEMICAL ENERGY

CHEMICAL ENERGY

  • We can find energy inside things and objects, like pasta or a candle.
  • Chemical energy is that one which is produced by chemical reactions: photosynthesis, oxidation of an apple or the fermentation when you cook pizza or bread.

2

ELECTRICAL ENERGY

ELECTRICAL ENERGY

  • Electrical energy is related to electricity.
  • It is produced by the movement of electrical charges (postitive +, or negative -) from one place to another or in the same place.
  • We have 2 types: static electricity, when the electricity is collected in one place (like when you shake a balloon on your hair), and current electricity, when electricity moves from one plane to another (such as a lamp).

3

THERMAL ENERGY

THERMAL ENERGY

  • Thermal energy is related to temperature.
  • An object or substance with low temperature has less energy than the same object or substance with high temperature. For example, an extinguished chimney against a fired chimney, or the temperate water that you usually drink against the hot water that you need to make a cup of tea.

4

NUCLEAR ENERGY

NUCLEAR ENERGY

  • The nuclear energy is the energy collected from the center or nucleus of an atom.
  • Remember that everything in the world is formed by atoms (matter).
  • We use nuclear energy to create electricity from the atoms.
  • It is not the best type of energy because it produces radioactive residues. In conclusion, it is extremely dangerous for our health and environment.

6

SOUND ENERGY

SOUND ENERGY

  • Sound energy is made by a vibration of an object or substance which travels through the air, like when you sing or play an instrument.
  • This vibrations get in your ears and, finally, to your brain, producing different sensations.

5

RADIANT ENERGY

RADIANT ENERGY

  • The radiant energy is the energy that electromagnetic waves have, such as the light bulbs, the radio waves or the ultraviolet lights of the Sun.
  • The radiant energy doesn´t need a conductor object to create energy. It can do it by itself, like the hot temperature and light produced by the Sun.

MECHANICAL ENERGY

MECHANICAL ENERGY

  • We use mechanical energy to produce movement.
  • This kind of energy makes possible people and things move, go faster or change direction, as when you ride your bike or kick a ball.
  • We have 2 types of mechanical energy: kinetic energy (the energy in motion/moving) and potential energy (energy waiting/what is going to happen).
  • The last video is a song but it doesn´t play on genially. Yo have to clic on the play sing and later on the link "disfruta de este vídeo en YouTube" and it will be appear. I LOVE IT.
