However, that did not happen: President Trump nominated a conservative judge. The majority of judges in the Superme Court are conservative.

There is no such thing as race. None. There is just a human race — scientifically, anthropologically. Racism is a construct, a social construct and it has benefits. Money can be made off of it, people who don’t like themselves can feel better because of it, it can describe certain kinds of behavior that are wrong or misleading, so it has a social function, racism.Toni Morrison

Why is she modern? First, because she is young and determined. Second, because she had a life before being in politics Third, because she represents the young generation of educated and powerful Latino-American women.

What exactly is the final task about?

Get to know more about powerful women in fiction: click to see what you have to do=>

For your final task, you will have to write an article about: - one of the women we have talked about in this unit (or a group of women, for example the women’s soccer team) or

  • another woman from the English-speaking world who has been important in the fight for women's equality: the woman you'll choose can be an athlete, a journalist, a politician, an actress,…
In your article, you’ll have to include:
  • a headline
  • a photo
Here are the different parts you’ll need to include:
  1. Introduction: who the woman is/was and how important she is/was
  2. A biography (no copy-pasted content, nothing too long, only the most significant information) and what people have said about her (reported speech in the past). Focus on what may have influenced her: for example for Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, the family’s financial troubles as well as her relationship with her father have influenced who she has become as a politician.
  3. Why she was / is important for the fight for equality between men and women. In this part, you can use what you worked on already when you had to write a paragraph.
  4. The final part should be about the reasons why you admire her.
  5. Conclusion: your opinion as to why we should know more (or teach more) about this woman.
(apart from the introduction and the conclusion, each part should be between 10 to 15 lines long)

1. Choose one of the fictional women you've learnt more about. 2. Then, take your mind map and write a 6-line-paragraph in your copybook to explain in what way this fictional woman can be inspirational. The goal of this activity is how to use the vocabulary from the mind map.
