Lobsters are a family of large marine crustaceans.. they have long bodies with muscular tails and live on the sea floor.They have claws and the first par are usually much larger than the others.they are expensive seafood.the most important species are : HOMARUS from the Northem Atlantic Ocean, and SCAMPI from the Notherm Hemisphire. there are other groups :Spiny lobster, Slipper lobster, Squat lobsters and Reef lobsters. lobsters liveup to 45 or 50 years in the wild.

Habitat- The lobsters live in a depth between 20 and 150 metres. The majority of lobsters live in the Atlantic Ocean but are spices in the Caribe and Australia. The lobsters hunt in the night.Refuge- Lobsters take refuge in rock slitsDefense- The lobsters have 10 legs and 2 of them, the front ones, have tweezers. One of them uses it to crush and the other to cut their food

THE CYCLE OF THE LIFE REPRODUCTION

After 5-8 years of the lobster´s life , it is ready to reproduce. The process of the reproduction occurs after the female has molted, then the male and the female begin to mate. The female has ovaries, oviducts and a seminal receptacle that is used to store the male´s sperm for later fertilization. The female can store sperm for several months until the egg laying season, typically occurs during July and August, the females breed for 2 years, they carry their eggs down the abdomen and attached to structures called spinnerets.The number of eggs depends on the size of the female(between 5.000 and 46.000 eggs), they carry them for 10-11 months.The eggs break approximately 6 months later, in spring. Then the y disperse with water currents, after the young lobsters go to the bottom and begin their sedentary life.
