Leprechauns are small old creatures who live in the forest. They are not very sociable but they are intelligent ! They have pointed ears and a red-haired beard. They really like music and dancing, and of course they can play the fiddle or the harp. They are usually shoemakers, so they repair shoes. They have a lot of money because the fairies pay them with golden coins. They put them into a pot and they keep it at the end of a rainbow.

The Republic of Ireland is also called Eire. Saint Patrick is the Patron Saint of Ireland. He brought Christianity to Ireland in the 5th century. The legend says he drove the snakes out of Ireland.Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17th. It is a national holiday in Ireland but it is also celebrated by people of Irish origin all over the world. The biggest Irish parade is in Dublin. The Irish wear green clothes and they march in parades. They dance, they play music, and they sing Irish songs. The harp and the shamrock are two symbols of Ireland.
