WILD DUMP

A landfill in several facilities or a single facility for landfilling on the surface of the ground or underground. The area of the landfill is the defined by a spatial planning document, which permits the construction of the landfill and other facilities and facilities necessary for the landfill operation. Landfills for non hazardous waste can be disposed of: municipal waste, treated non hazardous waste with a high content of biodegradable substances, non-reactive and stable hazardous waste.

What is a wild dump

-The latter has been treating biodegradable waste since 1997. -The municipality of Vrhnika was the first in Slovenia to introduce separate waste collection. Bio-waste is collected in green containers and then taken to a Waste Management Center or a composting facility with special vehicles. -The bio-waste is then crushed in a crusher and wood chips added. The mixture is placed in piles beneath which flow pipes that push the air in or suck it in depending on the process. -Composting is the mimicking of natural processes when, by forcing the supply of oxygen to microorganisms, we accelerate the process of processing waste into a natural fertilizer.

-Wild landfills have a very large effect on the environment as they pollute groundwater, spoil the appearance of the landscape and the quality of life of all living things, and with that affect the air and soil. -There are more than 13000 wild landfills in Slovenia. Wild landfills can contain a wide variety of waste from waste tires, salon boards, construction waste and other.

What polutes wild dumps?

Such waste disposal is, of course, illegal. Of greater concern, however, is the danger posed by the cave to nature as well as human health. The clay at the bottom of the cave was reached by water. Therefore, hazardous substances from waste are already washed into the underground of the Kočevski horn and threaten drinking water. The main reason the cave has not been cleaned is, according to her, the lack of interest in the state inspection, which bears part of the responsibility for cleaning the abyss. poor responsiveness of the State Environmental Inspectorate, lack of cooperation between state and municipal inspections, and high cost of cleaning up landfills. At the same time, there is nothing to suggest that future environmental inspections will address the issue more seriously.

-Some of the most dangerous landfills are untreated -In 2010, Ecologists Without Borders organized the first nationwide cleaning campaign in Slovenia, Let's Clean Slovenia in One Day. The response was incredible. Everyone cleaned, the jung and the old.270,000 volunteers participated, clearing about 14,800 tonnes of waste and about 7,000 wild landfills.
