Urban structure of the historic center
The historic center of Mazara del Vallo is made up of four districts organized according to the layout of the" Medina", an Arab urban layout: the• Kasbah, that is the Islamic district par excellence located along the quadrilateral of the ancient walled city: San Francesco to the west, the Giudecca to the east, Xitta and San Giovanni street
• "La Giudecca" is a neighbourhood inhabited in the past, by the Jewish community, bounded on the south by to Via Goti, a narrow and winding road that opens into the splendid "Piazza di San Michele".
"RUE DELLA GIUDECCA"
Xitta, the oldest neighbourhood after Giudecca, is located at the intersection of Via Veneto and Corso Umberto.
• San Giovanni, embraces the rest of the walled city and is still the seat of civil and religious power. The heart of the neighbourhood is Piazza della Repubblica.
