BEING HEALTHY
UNIT 2 NATURAL SCIENCES
Nutrition
We get nutrients from the food we eat. They give us the energy we need to stay alive. Many different body parts and systems take part in nutrition.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
When we breathe in, we take in oxygen from the air. Our lungs carry the oxygen to our blood.
Circulatory system
Blood carries oxygen and nutrients around the body. The heart moves the blood.
excretory system
The body eliminates waste products that are in the blood as urine or sweat.
We can sense things outside our bodies too. Our sense organs give us information about things like temperature, sounds, smells and tastes.
interaction
We can sense things inside our bodies. For example, when we need water we feel thirsty.
Imagine you put your hand near a fire:• The sense organ for touch, the hand, sends information to the brain.• The brain sends instructions to the body. • The body moves.
Interaction (ii)
Classify the information by where it comes from
Reproduction
Males and females have different reproductive organs. This helps us to have babies. A baby develops inside the mother during pregnancy. After nine months the baby is born.
