It is celebrated in Penelles, a village near Lleida, in the north east of Catalonia that has less than 500 inhabitants .

HISTORY

wHAT IS IT ?

The Festival of Murals GarGar and Rural Art is an initiative created by Binomic.cat with the support of the City of Penelles and Lleida Provincial Council, which wants to spread the art culture in rural areas, involving people in a unique theme. This year 2020 they'll do the fifth edition

Since 2016 it's held on 3rd-5th May

When can we go there?

Among the international artists there are the French Abys Scaf and Aéro, as well as others from countries such as Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Venezuela, the United States, Greece and Colombia.

There are 30% of local artists, 30% state and 30% international and they try to represent all the techniques and styles trying not to be all the pictures just portraits or landscapes. The organizers look for a variety of styles on the final images.

It is not a vandal intervention, it is authorized by the town hall and also the festival itself represents a celebration of the Street Art.Apart from being an intervention in the public space in the Gargar, walls of painted houses are private property, given by the same owners .
