SOTINSKI BREGTHE HIGHEST HILL OF PREKMURJE

On the Sotinski breg (418 m) the highest peak of Pomurje, our pride is - a viewing tower, which is 14 m high. It is run by a geologic learning path with 365 steps. From the tower there is a beautiful view of all four sides of the sky. We also call the local hill "Prekmurski Triglav".

About 30 years ago, the authorities commissioned drilling of several wells in the village of Nuskova in the Rogaška municipality, hoping to discover geothermal water. However, geothermal waters have not been found. They found the mineral water site, which, according to the Faculty of Chemistry in Ljubljana, is the best mineral water in Slovenia. In the past, there were quite a few investors who were willing to invest in the exploitation of mineral water, including the famous Feldbach-based entrepreneur Trummer as well as Schwepps. Conversations with Schwepps were very fruitful until the then state-owned company Radenska, which is still the owner of the land on which the hole is standing, has not interfered. Local authorities have fine-tuned the surroundings of the hole. At the well, a beautiful wooden house is covered with straw, as well as a table, which tells us what they have forgotten about.

The parish joins five villages. The church stands on the foundations of about 400 years old small church. The special feature of the church from 1963 is the unique (sparkling clay) of the cross path of the Austrian master p. Wolfgang Kogler, now a late Carthusian from the Pleterje monastery. From 2009, the church boasts the second largest mosaic (92 m2) in Slovenia, created by father Marko Rupnik, famous artist of many mosaics with biblical scenes.
