For the effects of our investigation is it mandatory to explore some concepts and definitions that will be taking in the research project such as teaching activities, participation, students' participation and warming up activities. Right below they will be described to recognize their importance and impact in the educational field.

Description

1 Teacher activities

“Educators should consider potential and creative teaching options to overcome students learning challenges such as their lack of interest and attention in the subject” (Hernan, 2015)

According to Richards and Schmidt (2010), teaching activities are “any classroom procedures that requires students to use and practice their available language resources” (p.9)

Teacher activities

2 Active learning

“It derives from two basic assumptions: (1) that learning is by nature an active endeavor and (2) that different people learn in different ways" (Meyers and Jones, 1993, as cited in Center for the Enhancement of Learning & Teaching, 2010).

Active learning

3 Students participation

Yusof (2012) says that we learn acquiring or modifying existing knowledge skills or behaviours. For that reason, learners need to be proactive and transmit the received information through behaviours such as give opinions, ask questions or taking notes in passive participation cases.

According to )Fassinger 1995, cited by Brandi n.d), the students participation is defined for the structural communication literature as "any comments or question that the students offered or raised in class".

4 Students' Oral Participation

Oral participation is defined as “the student’s willingness to speak up in the class; including answering questions or asking lecturer questions, comments and recommendations related to the discourse” (Lin, 2018).

Passive Students

PS

Active students raise questions and comments in the class

Active Students

Motivation
