Tundras are the coldest biome. Because they are located at the poles, they experience long nights during the winter and long days during the summer. During the coldest months, even the ground is frozen, preventing plant growth.

TAIGA/BOREAL

Taiga, or Boreal forests, are the largest biome in the world. They cover most of Canada and Russia. It is a cold biome with more coniferous trees than a tundra.

Wrong. Remember, animals that live in the Taiga could live in Russia or Canada, where it is cold for part of the year with snow, but also green for the other part of the year. There are a lot of coniferous, or Christmas-looking trees, here.

Crocodiles live in grasslands, not Taigas! (Aligators are commonly mistaken for crocodiles. They are slightly different. We have aligators in the US, and they live in swamp lands, like Louisana.

In Africa, The diet of the Nile crocodile is mainly fish, but it will attack almost anything unfortunate enough to cross its path, including zebras, small hippos, porcupines, birds, and other crocodiles.

Temperate Deciduous forests are forests that have all of the seasons. The trees have broad leaves that need a lot of sunlight to go through photosynthesis. Their leaves start to lose their color when the days get shorter and there is less sunlight in the fall. In the winter, the leaves have all fallen. Animals that live here can handle all of the seasons and like to live in forests.

A desert is a landscape form or region that receives very little precipitation. Generally deserts are defined as areas that receive an average annual precipitation of less than 250 mm (10 inches). There are Hot and Dry Deserts, Semi Arid Deserts, Coastal Deserts, and Cold Deserts, like Antactica .

Poison Dart Frogs live in rainforest habitats in Central and South America. They can be found in trees, as well as under leaves and logs and rocks on the floor of the forest. Because of their size, from 1/2 to 2 inches long, they are hard to see. Poison frogs warn predators with brilliant colors and patterns.

These frogs are considered one of Earth's most toxic, or poisonous, species. For example, the golden poison dart frog has enough poison to kill 20,000 mice. With a range of bright colors—yellows, oranges, reds, greens, blues—they aren't just big show-offs either. Those colorful designs tell potential predators, "I'm toxic. Don't eat me." Scientists think that poison dart frogs get their toxicity from some of the insects they eat.

SAVANNA

The African Savanna is a grassland biome that is home to many grass eaters, or herbivores. It has srubs and a few small trees. IThese animals can handle hot temperatures all year long and experience a dry winter season and a rainy summer season.

Wrong. One of these animals lives in a desert, not a grassland. It stores water in its hump in order to survive the lack of precipitation in the desert.

Camels live in deserts, not grasslands. Camels can reach 7 feet in height (at the hump) and weigh up to 1500 pounds. They are specially adapted to the life in desert. Their eyes have three eyelids and two rows of eyelashes that prevent sand to enter their eyes.

1. There are two types of camels: One humped or “dromedary” camels and two humped Bactrian camels.2. Camels have three sets of eyelids and two rows of eyelashes to keep sand out of their eyes.3. Rainforests are in tropical climate zones with warm temperatures, high humidity, abundant rainfall and sunlight all year. The temperautres stay relatively the same throughout the year. Water is a vital aspect of this biome in order to maintain all of the living organisms.

White-tailed deer, also known as the whitetail or Virginia deer, are medium-sized deer native to the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America as far south as Peru and Bolivia.

White-tailed deer are herbivores, leisurely grazing on most available plant foods. Their stomachs allow them to digest a varied diet, including leaves, twigs, fruits and nuts, grass, corn, alfalfa, and even lichens and other fungi. Occasionally venturing out in the daylight hours, white-tailed deer are primarily nocturnal or crepuscular, browsing mainly at dawn and dusk.
