1ST TERM QUESTIONNAIRE REPORT

MAKING FRIENDS AROUND THE WORLD

A total of 8 teachers completed the survey by following this link: https://surveyhero.com/c/c0e7299c The purpose of the survey was to gather information about the activities done in the first term and to see if any of the activities could be improved. Based on the teachers’ feedback, the activities of the second term could be modified. The survey was easy to follow and all the questions were answered but some teachers forgot to answer one question. This is why for some questions only 7 responses can be seen and not 8.

Summary

What country are you teaching at?8 teachers from 5 different countries answered the questionnaire. It was good that feedback was received from partners all around the world. Here are the results!

How many activities were you and your students involved in?The teachers were asked to number the activities their students were involved in. One teacher answered “All the activities” while the others wrote a number for this question. It was pleasing that most teachers were involved in 3 or more activities. Here are the results!

What age group did you work with?Teachers had students as young as 9 years old involved in the project but as old as 13 years old. Here is the raw data collected from the survey!

How many of your students were involved in the activities? This question was to ascertain how many students were involved in the activities so far. By adding the numbers seen in the table below, the total number of students involved so far is over 250. As one teacher answered “all my students” it’s impossible to know the exact number of students involved!

Please select what activities your students have participated in.It can be seen from the table below how many activities were carried out in the first term and how many of the 8 teachers were involved in these activities with their students. All teachers that answered the questionnaire had their students involved in the international calendar activity. The second most popular activity was the school presentations and also voting for the project logo! Here is the raw data.

What was your favourite activity? The teachers were then asked what their favourite activity was. The international calendar came in first place. Perhaps the reason for this is because it was such a collaborative activity that involved countries from all around the world. Usually, European teachers only collaborate with other European teachers. However for this project, European teachers collaborated with teachers from all 5 continents!

Why did they enjoy the activity so much? This was perhaps one of the most important questions on the survey. If you understand why students like something then you can repeat this in future activities. It was pleasing to see that a variety of answers were given including learning something different from their existing syllabus, doing something creative, collaborating, learning something new, artistic expression and creating something for others to see. Here is what the different teachers said!

What was your students’ favourite activity? The teachers were then asked what their students’ favourite activity was. Funnily enough, the results were different to the ones above! Even though 6 teachers enjoyed the international calendar, only 3 of those teachers felt that it was their students’ favourite activity. Here are the results!

Could any of the project activities be improved? If so, how? This question was important so future activities could be better than the previous ones. Also, any mistakes that occurred in the first term could not be repeated in the second term activities! It seems that very few future suggestions were made. One teacher felt that more time was needed for activities. Another teacher commented on how time consuming it is to read all the emails exchanged between the partners. Another teacher felt that we should improve our collaboration so we have common work. Here is the raw data gathered from the survey

Final question

Final question. Any other comments? This question was added to the survey to give the partners to express anything at all regarding the project, the activities, the coordinators or something else. Here is what they said:

It is pleasing to see that words/phrases such as excellent communication, clear instructions and well organized were used. It is also good to see that suggestions regarding future activities were also given!
