Anibal Milhais, the most decorated Portuguese soldier of the Great War, successfully resisted two German assaults... alone !

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES

Edith Cavell was a British nurse who helped 200 Allied soldiers escape from German-occupied Belgium.

Marie Marvingt became the first woman in the world to fly combat missions. She had a nickname : 'La Fiancée du Danger'.

Jean-Corentin Carré became the youngest French soldier as he engaged when he was only 15.

MILLIONS OF TEENAGERS HAD TO WORK IN FIELDS AND FACTORIES. THEY WERE HEROES TOO.

627 soldiers were awarded the Victoria Cross - the most prestigious British award .

The Croix de guerre 1914–1918 was created to recognize French and allied soldiers who were cited for courageous service during the War.

The Croix de guerre 1914–1918 was awarded to more than one million soldiers, civilians and even... animals.
