5 GAME STRUCTURE: the Syrian variant

The Syrian variant: The first player rolls his or her marble to the hole from a distance of about 2-3 meters (you decide) and tries to roll it inside the hole. Usually, it is rather difficult, so if he or she does not hit the hole, the marble stays near it. The next player also rolls his or her marble to the hole. If he or she manages to roll it inside the hole, then it is his or her turn again: he or she can take his or her marble from the hole und try to hit with this marble (so his /her own marble) the previous player’s marble. If you hit the other player’s marble, you take this marble and so you have two and the other player has lost. The player with the most marble is the winner.

Let’s play this game togEUther!"

2 GAME OBJECTIVES

During the game, the game leader has to identify the character played by the other players. For example if the game leader chooses the topic "sea", every other participant of the game has to play a character of this topic (diver, swimmer, fish, etc.). So the main objective is to be creative and also to learn to understand each other and appreciate each others' creative talents. And, of course, TO HAVE FUN.

VARIANT 1 (easy-peasy)1. The first leader is chosen (the youngest). 2. All the participants are moving around - waving their arms like the sea- while the leader is saying the following words: The sea is rougha — one. The sea is rough — two. The sea is rough — three. Sea figure, stop dancing in the blue sea. (Freeze!)3. The participants are supposed to freeze. The one who moves first has to leave. The last one is the leader.

VARIANT 3

Everything is the same, however, the topic could be literally everything. There is no guessing involved though, the topic is limited, which is why even more creativity is expected: The sea is rough — one. The sea is rough — two. The sea is rough — three. Cat, stop dancing in the blue sea. (Freeze!) Obviously, the best “cat” wins :-) and gets to be the leader. HAVE FUN “WAVING” AROUND!

VARIANT 2

(steps 1, 2 are the same) 4.The participants are supposed to freeze in a pose showing some something/ somebody connected to the topic “sea” (or to any other topic: animals, birds, actors or even… teachers at BvA? ;-). If your pose makes the leader curious, she or he will touch your shoulder. Then you can show a short performance trying to explain your word without saying any words (however, other noise, like animal voices, are allowed). When she/ he touches your shoulder again, you should “freeze” again. 5. The leader can/ should have a good look at some performances and choose the best one. (Of course, she/he is also expected to guess the word). The best one is the leader after that.
