Vesalius revered his authority but proved that he was wrong because the anatomy of a human body is different from that of an animal.

Andreas Vesalius

Claudius Galenus was notable to dissect human bodies for religious reasons, so he only dissected animals like dogs, pigs or monkeys.

In 1543 , Vesalius, a 28-year-old young professor, publishes The Humani Corporis Fabrica Libri Septem (On the fabric of the human body in seven books) a gigantic masterpiece based upon objective observation, the first truly anatomical scientific textbook in medical history and a wonderful work of art.

On this side you will find some of Galen's observations from his dissections of animals ...

... , Vesalius corrected Galen's observations afterthe Church allowed him to dissect human bodies.

"The blood flows from one side of the heart to the other through the tiny pores in the septum."

I didn't dissect any hearts, so I can't say he is wrong.

Since the heart is waterproof, there is no flow through pores. The mitral valve explains the blood flow.
