How does it work?

Lorby Wildfire Response is a software solution that allows for highly realistic, aerial wildfire training in a networked computer environment. Our goal is to make high fidelity, simulation based training a reality for every Pilot, Aircrew and Organization involved in wildland fire. Executing a coordinated aerial attack on wildfires is a perishable skill, it requires regular practice and training.Improved training lowers operational costs but more importantly, it reduces the risk to responders. Fighting fire from the air is a complex and dangerous undertaking. We will never ever completely eliminate the risks but we can continue to reduce them.

How does it work?

Flight simulation is about creating a realistic flying experience in a controlled environment. Computer based flight simulation has been around for almost as long as the computer. With todays modern PC hardware, the simulation experience is really quite remarkable.We have leveraged this existing technology and merged the wildfire environment with the flight simulator experience. Prepar3D is a simulation training program, developed and supported by Lockheed Martin. P3D was developed for exactly the type of mission training we wanted to create. With P3D providing the global environment and Lorby Wildfire Response providing the Wildfire Integration, the training experince is second to none.

Effective simulation training is about suspension of disblief, putting the trainee into as realistic an environment as possible while ensuring the highest level of safety in a classroom environment.

How does it work?

The heart of the software is the Lorby Instructor Station. From here, the Instructor is in complete control of the networked wildfire environment. Controlling everything from the weather, visibility, fire growth, up and downdrafts, add trees and other natural and manmade hazards, artificial intelligent (AI) aircraft and vehicles and much much more.

Connecting to the wildfire environment is done through the Lorby Pilot Module. Your location on the planet is irrelevant, all you need is an internet connection to join the networked wildfire environment. Desktop computers to full blown flight simulation devices can be used.

Lorby Wildfire Reponse in use by a Wildfire Agency. These Gentlemen are flying helicopters and fixed wing tankers in support of air attack training. A two seat birddog sim is in an ajoining room with a pilot and trainee air attack officer. They are all connected to the wildfire simulation through a local area network.

Effective communication is the key

Lorby Comms is a voice over internet (VOIP) communication system that closely resembles the communication system in use around the world by wildfire and other emergency response agencies.We have not only develped a software solution, we are also busy working on a hardware solution that will interface with the Comms software, providing unparralled training potential in the safety of a classroom. Wildfire Training Solution is the hardware research and development side of our business. We are working on a number of hardware projects that will take the mouse and keyboard out of the simulator cockpit.

Communication between pilots, aircrew and role players is done using Lorby Comms.
