- 98% fri from fossil fuel
Energy Production in Sweden
Hydropower Plant
- About 45% av Swedens energy is produced by Hydro Power Plant
- We have like 2000 hydro power plats in Sweden. 200 of these are quite big and their effect is 10 MW or even more.
Hydropower Plant
How does it work?
- The rain gathers in big reservoir.
- The water flows from a higher to a lower level passing a turbine that starts rotating. The kinetic energy from the water is converted into machanical energy.
- The turbin is connected to a generator by shafts and gears. When the turbine spins, the generator spins as well and converts the mechanical energy from the turbine into electric energy.
- Transmission lines conduct electricity from the hydropower plant to our homes.
Nuclear Power Plant
- 40% av Swedens energy is produced by Nuclear Power Plant
- Currently we have 8 active ractors in Sweden, placed in 3 locations: Ringhals, Forsmark and Oscarshamn
Nuclear Power Plant
How does it work?
- Uraniun athoms split in the reactor, causeing the water to boil. The steam is leded to the turbin.
- As the steam blows past the turbine's vanes, they spin around at high speed. The heat energy from the water converts into mechanical energy.
- The turbin is connected to a generator by shafts and gears. When the turbine spins, the generator spins as well and converts the mechanical energy from the turbine into electric energy.
- Transmission lines conduct electricity from the hydropower plant to our homes.
Wind Power Plant
- About 10% av Swedens energy is produced by Wind Power Plant. It gets bigger and bigger every year,
- The biggest wind power plant is called Lillgrund and it started 2008.
