Her Life

She was born on February,12 1888 in Madrid

She was assigned to work in the Institute of Chinese Materia Medica.

She enrolled in the Faculty of Law, for which she graduated on December 19, 1924.

Campoamor was considered the winner and the approval of article 36 allowed women's suffrage

She went into exile in Paris when the Spanish Civil War broke out

Her ideas about women's equality brought her closer to the PSOE

She died in 1972 on 30th April in Switzerland

In 1898, when she was ten years old, the death of her father led Clara to leave her first studies to collaborate in the family economy. She worked as a dressmaker, sales clerk and telephone operator.

Clara Campoamor was elected deputy for the district of the city of Madrid in the elections of 1931 by the Radical Party
