Castro del Río is a village situated in Córdoba. Córdoba is an Andalusian city, which is in the south of Spain

WHERE IS OUR VILLAGE?

- The origin of Castro del Río is prehistoric. After this period, here lived The Iberians, the Romans and the Muslims. We have some remains such as the Castle and "La Villa"(the old village).- It has approximately 7900 inhabitants and covers an area of 220 square kilometres.-The people who live here are called castreños y castreñas.

La Candelaria

TRADITIONS

It is celebrated by neighborhoods, in which the children build a "Candelaria" with a stick and old wheels, where they put a rag doll, they light a fire and play around

Holly Week

The "Holly Week" of Castro del Río has been declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest in Andalusia since 2001.It is a religious week in which the different moments of the life of Christ are represented every day.

They are crosses decorated with flowers and made in streets and squares in May.

Saint Marc Festival

TRADITIONS

This day is celebrated in honor of the town's saint patron. It takes place on 25th April every year. It is bank holiday.

The Fair

TRADITIONS

This fair is still celebrated with a variety of festivities, such as bullfighting, flamenco and sports. It ends with fireworks. People may wear traditional culture clothing.

Craft Fair "Ars Olea"

TRADITIONS

"Ars Olea" is an exhibition of typical products made in factories of our village. It shows our olive oil products, olive tree wood products and many more.

La Aurora

TRADITIONS

In the early morning hours of Saint Andrew's Day till Immaculate Conception's Day, people walk through the streets singing traditional songs and playing instruments, sharing joy.
