benefits and risks while using palm oil by Lithuanian team

The topic of my presentation is benefits and risks while using palm oil. All around the world, palm oil consumption is increasing. However, it is a highly controversial food.

On the one hand, it provides several health benefits such as protecting brain function, reducing heart disease risk factors and improving vitamin A status. The research proved that palm oil helps to protect the delicate polyunsaturated fats in the brain, slow dementia progression, reduce the risk of stroke and prevent the growth of brain lesions. It is an excellent source of tocotrienols, a form of vitamin E with strong antioxidant properties that support brain health.

On the other hand, it may pose risks to heart health. The large amount of saturated fat and high number of calories it contains make palm oil a risky choice for your health. For example, using palm oil can lead to weight gain, heart problems and other chronic disease. Palm oil is particularly high in saturated fat. As a result it can lead to an elevated cholesterol level and a build up of plaque in the arteries. Over time, this can cause a heart attack or a stroke. In addition to causing weight gain and elevated cholesterol, consuming palm oil that has been heated may elevate blood pressure.

To sum up, eating a proper amount of fat is essential to human health, but too much can be detrimental. That is why before using it you should consider all pros and cons or consult your general practitioner.
