Jane Eyre: She is the main character of the book, she was orphan. She lived with her aunt and cousins who treated her poorly. She defies many restrictive social conventions, especially those affecting women. She is honest and intelligent. She searched a job to be independent, she worked as a governess. At the end of the book, she married Mr. Rochester.

Mr. Rochester: She lived at Thornfield and he took care of Adèle. When he met Jane, he felt in love and he tried Jane to be jealous. He discovered that she also was in love with him. He hid his marriage with Bertha. Because a fire in his house he was blind and lost an arm. At the end, he married Jane Eyre.

Characters

Mrs. Reed: She is Jane's aunt. Although she promised her husband that she would treat Jane as her own, Mrs. Reed favors her children and punishes Jane, even locking her up in the Red Room. Mrs. Reed sent Jane to Lowood when she was ten years old. On her deathbed, Mrs. Reed reveals that she hated Jane because his husband loved Jane more than any of his biological children, and she refuses to apologize for mistreating her.

PLOT

The book is about a young girl named Jane Eyre who lives with her aunt and cousins at Gateshead Hall. Her aunt and his cousin John treated her poorly and they remember her that she was poor, but one day she decided to tell them what she thought about them and they decided to lock her in the Red Room, where her uncle died. After a few days, they sent her to Lowood Institute where she became an excellent student. Later, Jane accepts a job as a governess of a French girl named Adèle in the house of Mr. Rochester at Thornfield. When she met Rochester, she felt in love with him and they decided to get married. Unfortunately, the day of the wedding there were two persons on the church that said Mr. Rochester was already married. He was married by his father with a woman whose name was Bertha and he had locked her at Thornfield. Jane ran away from Thornfield because he hadn’t told it before at her. Jane was hosted by the Rivers family and she realized that they were her cousins. When her aunt died, she shares her inheritance with them. One day, Jane heard the voice of Mr. Rochester and she decided to go back at Thornfield. Now, Rochester was blind and he had lost an arm by a fire in the house. In spite of this, Jane wanted to be with him and finally, they get married.

CHARLOTTE BRONTË

Charlotte Brontë was born on 21st April, 1816 inYorkshire, England. She worked as a teacher and governess before collaborating on a book of poetry with her two sisters, Emily and Anne, who also were writers. In 1847, she published the semi-autobiographical novel Jane Eyre, which was a hit and would become a literary classic. In 1854, Charlotte married Arthur Bell Nicholls, but died the following year during her pregnancy. She died on 31st March, 1855 in Yorkshire. Jane Eyre was written by the pseudonym Currer Bell. In 1848 Charlotte and Ann visited their publishers in London, and revealed the true identities of the Bells. Though controversial in its criticism of society's treatment of impoverished women, the book was an immediate hit.

Jane Eyre is a novel by English writer Charlotte Brontë. It was published on 16th October, 1847 under the pen name Currer Bell.It is a first-person narrative from the perspective of the title character. The novel's setting is somewhere in the north of England,The original publication was in three volumes, comprising chapters 1 to 15, 16 to 27, and 28 to 38; this was a common publishing format during the 19th century
