Symbaloo Lesson Plans

Go to http://lessonplans.symbaloo.com/

When a teacher creates a lesson plan, an access code is generated.When a student entersthe code in the box, the student will begin the lesson plan and the teacher can monitor their progress.

To find and use lesson plans already created by other teachers, go to the Marketplace.

Click on "Start a Plan" to create or view your lesson plans.

Have an account for Symbaloo.com? Then use this to log in.After you've logged into your account, make sure your profile is set up. Your country and teaching level is especially important for searching for your lesson plans in the Marketplace.

This is your personal environment. As you can see, there are still no lesson plans created. To create your first lesson plan, click "Create a Lesson Plan," or search the Marketplace for other lesson plans.

Create a Lesson Plan

Give your lesson plan a title and a description for your students to see.

Indicate the objectives and set the expected duration for the lesson plan.

This information can always be changed later.

Editing Your Lesson Plan

These are the buttons to edit your lesson plan. Here you can change the theme of your lesson plan, upload a background, and change the size of your game board.

Click anywhere on the blank grid to start creating your lesson plan.

Click "Assign & Start Tracking" to generate an access code and to allow your students to use the lesson plan. You can publish it to the Marketplace and inspire others with your work.

You can view your lesson plan from the perspective of the students, or track the progress of your students.

Create a Tile

Add content. You can choose what you'd like to add to the tile by clicking on the blue icons on the right (e.g. videos, web pages, images...)

Name the tile. Students can see the name of each tile.

You can add various types of questions on the subject of your lesson plan, such as multiple choice and short answer.

Indicate which direction the path will go. You can select multiple directions giving students the option to choose which route to take. Use the center flag to indicate the conclusion of the lesson plan.

Add (Online) Content to Your Tiles

There are many options for adding online content to your tiles in the lesson plan. If one option is not useful, you will be sure to find one that fits your needs. The various options are:

  • Add a tile from your own Symbaloo webmix.

  • Add a link to a web page.

  • Find a page directly from Google.

  • Search for videos accross platforms like YouTube, Vimeo...

  • Find articles using Wikipedia, Google Scholar...

  • Add content using an embed code.

  • Add a file/image from your computer.

  • Create your own drawings.

  • Insert a mathematical formula.

The beauty of Symbaloo Lesson Plans is that students remain in the same environment, despite the fact that you can add all sorts of websites without the distraction of a new tab.

  • Add text. This is the default option and is also included in other options.

Edit the Pathway

Right click on a tile already created to insert a new tile at any location in the lesson plan.

Ask A Question

You can add a question in any tile.Students will be directed in different directions depending on their answer to the question. If a student answers correctly, you can direct them to an alternative route with more exercises. To do this, click on a second arrow on the directional button.

Click on the arrow again to deselect the arrows or to set a new path.

The first arrow you select will be green (or the correct answer to the question).

The second arrow will be red (the wrong answer).

Choose "Select a question type" if you'd like to ask a question.

Learn How to Share Your Lesson Plan.

Start Your Lesson Plan

Click "Assign & Start Tracking" to generate an access code. Your students can access the lesson plan with this code. Here you can copy the direct link to the lesson plan, email it, share it on social media, or assign it via Google Classroom.

You also have the opportunity to:

  • Set a deadline
  • Activate the chat feature
  • Lock the lesson plan for anonymous users
  • Assign to Google Classroom
  • Allow students to provide feedback

You can create another access code for a different group of students. This will separate results between groups.

If your lesson plan is finished, you can publish it to the Marketplace.

Help Others to Learn

After your lesson plan is published, other teachers can access it in the Marketplace. This way, other people will be able to find it, use it, and learn from it, just like you can do from other users' lesson plans. You can also find your lesson plan through search engines like Google...you could become internet famous!

Track the Progress of Your Students

Test your students and review their performance through the built-in statistics in the back end of the lesson plan.

The statistics are in real-time, which means you can see exactly where each student is on the lesson plan and how they are doing.

Find lesson plans available for a specific course or grade level.

You can also see the highest rated lesson plans in the Marketplace for any topic.

Search by common state standards.

Use Other Lesson Plans

From the Marketplace, click on a lesson plan that you'd like more information on.

Share the lesson plan on your social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, or your website.

Add the lesson plan to your account so that you can edit and use it based on your class' needs.

You can try out the lesson plan to see if you like it before adding it to your account.

Give the original creator some feedback on their lesson plan.
