Convicted people were executed here in the 17th century until the 18th century. This celebrations were shown in public as they were an important tradition at that time. more information here

In the XIII century these monastery was located at the outsides of city and it was the oldest one in Madrid. It suffered many fires as the one on 1680,1683 and 1872. It was reconstructed in 1767 and then it was decided to demolish on 1868, after that, it was again reconstructed and thanks to another fire it was again demolish on 1878. After all of these destructive fires and the sell of its plot, the bistrophic of Madrid carry the construction of a new plan according to the plans of Francisco de Cubas and González de Montes. The innaguration of the new monastery of the Encarnación took place in January 23 of 1902. more information here

It is an important building of Madrid, it was ordered to built in 1610 by Cristóbal Gómez de Sandoval and now it works as "El palacio de los Consejos de Madrid". more information here

This building was funded by Margarita of Austria, Felipe III 's wife: it is a convent of Agustinians Recollect nuns. Only a little part of the monastery can be visited by people. more information here

There was a big square in the space that now occupies the Barley´s Market of Madrid. It had big dimensions so it was the perfect scenario for activities lie market, fairs and executions. In some cases, executed people made a rute beggining in the Palace of Santa Cruz ("Cortes' Jail" at that time), passing through the Plaza Mayor and finishing in this square. more information here
