Spain is a parliamentary monarchy. The King is the head of state but he doesn’t govern. He only represents Spain. Felipe VI is the king of Spain.The constitution is the most important Spanish law. The three powers of State are:
- The legislative power
- The executive power
- The judicial power

General courts make laws, approve budgets, and control the government. The courts are responsible for judging people who break the law. The government. It runs the country and prepares the budgets and the laws.

Spain is made up of 17 autonomous communities. Each autonomous community is divided into provinces. The provinces are composed of municipalities. The municipalities are governed by the mayor at the town hall.
