The Ferry To go to Pelican Island, it took me about 15 minutes to cross the channel. The weather was lovely and I was lucky to see some pelicans and even some dolphins. There were lots of seagulls, I had taken some bread and so I could feed them. I enjoyed it!

The Bishop's Palace There are several historic houses in Galveston. The best-known is the Bishop's Palace. It is made of colored stone, rare woods, stained-glass windows, bronze dragons and other sculptures. This home was built at the end of the 19th century. I saw the living room where the owners could often listen to music during the hot summer months, the big rotunda staircase, the bathroom with three taps: one for hot, one cold, and one for rainwater. Thanks to the audio guide, I learnt a lot about the everyday life of rich people and their servants in those days.

Pelican Island I spent a couple of hours on Pelican island and enjoyed a peaceful walk. I saw the Bolivar lighthouse which used to be white and black. it is now covered with rust and almost completely black. I also saw some houses built on stilts. There are meant to resist hurricanes but a lot of them were destroyed in 2005 and 2008.

The beaches There are several beaches in Galveston. I spent hours swimming, relaxing, sunbathing, collecting shells, reading, feeding the birds, .... I also went to the Pleasure Pier and enjoyed the games. The Rollercoaster, the Pirate's Plunge and the Sky Shooter were fun!

My favourite restaurant in Galveston My favourite restaurant had a lovely view on the sea and the food was great. Have you seen the movie Forest Gump? Then, you probably remember Bubba and his shrimps..... I really enjoyed the coconut shrimps, an unusual but delicious dish. Have a look at the menu below, scroll down!
