Holocaust

In 1941 the Nazis started to build big concentration camps in German-Occupied countries in Eastern Europe, where more tham 12million people were then shot, poisoned in gas chambers or starved to death.

Although he initially supported Hitler, he opposed the nazification of German Protestant churches. After being imprisoned in Sachsenhausen and Dachau concentration camps from 1937 to 1945, he became an ardent pacifist, anti-war activist and campaigner for nuclear disarmament.

-Christy Moore and his song

Christy moore wrote a song about the Holocaust ,Yellow Triangle that was based on a poem by Martin Niemöller. It is very sad, melancholic. In a few words it explains how in the Nazi camps the prisoners were obliged to wear fabric triangles on their uniforms, painted in different colours. The colours are: yellow for Jews, red for political prisoners, pink for homosexuals, purple for Jehovah's Witnesses, green for the "common criminals", back for the "asocials", brown for Gypsies, white for the work strikers and blue for the war prisoners from occupied countries.
