WHO ARE WE? I.E.S Torre de los Espejos is a public comprehensive mixed secondary school . It was established in 2009 as a response to the growing population of Utebo town, located on the outskirts of Zaragoza. We offer compulsory secondary education, from 1st to 4th years of E.S.O., and optional further second level Education -1st and 2nd years Bachillerato.

WHAT GENERAL EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES DO WE SEEK?

The English Department seek to achieve the following aims:

  • To help them value English as a means of international communication

  • To provide pupils with the sociocultural knowledge of the English-speaking world .Learning a foreign language provides greater cultural enrichment and allows pupils to develop still their awareness of a mulicultural society. Language learning is a key factor in understandingand appreciating cultures.

  • To awaken pupils' interest in literary, musical art and every type of manifestation of the English-speaking world.

  • To provide pupils with the tools and strategies to become communicately competent in English and to be able to use both oral and written English in real situations of everyday life

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Within the POLE framework, we organise a variety od complementary and extracurricular activities aiming at fostering the pupils' improvement of English communicative competence

  • CULTURAL TRIP TO LONDON FOR 4 YEARS ESO PUPILS

  • ENGLISH WEEK FOR 2 YEARS ESO

  • ENGLISH THEATER

  • LITERARY CONTESTS, MOVIES ETC.

HOW DO WE INTEND TO ACHIEVE THE EDUCATIONAL GOALS?

In order to achieve the general educational aims and foster students' linguistic skills in English, we find it essential to encourage its use through a communicative methodology which provide students with real situations for communication in the classroom like interactions or role-plays.

THE FINAL MARK IN THIRD EVALUATION WILL DEPEND ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA

  • FIRST EVALUATION- 20%
  • THIRD EVALUATION-50%
  • SECOND EVALUATION-30%
